Who we are and What we do
The Friends of the Library was organized in 1962 when the Library was transferred from the Cambridge Central School to the Village of Cambridge. The purpose of the Friends of the Library is to support the Cambridge Public Library in its mission to serve the community. Friends of the Library volunteer as needed and are responsible for fundraising to help the library offer more than the operating budget would allow. Programs and services made possible by Friends of the Library include StoryHour, Take & Make Craft kits, Museum Passes, Senior Lunches, Summer Reading Incentives, and so much more. Friends of the Library also help fund improvements to the library equipment and library building.
