“Adirondack Place Names: Why is That Thing Over There Called That?”
Erik Schlimmer, an award-winning author and educator will be visiting Cambridge Public Library on September 20th at 6:00 PM. During the past thirty years Erik has explored the wildest places in America. Some of his trips include mountain biking across the United States twice, paddling the Delaware and Susquehanna rivers from source to sea, and climbing nearly 2,000 mountains.
The mountains he’s most familiar with are the Adirondacks. He’ll be sharing some of his photos of this range as well as what his extensive research has revealed about place names. As he likes to say, “Behind every place name there’s a story, and the story’s usually pretty good.”
